The energetic, indie rock of Suran Song in Stag is back! Suran’s voice is Herculean as is Weis’ bass-playing. Kitty Igloo & The Plastic Stereo is a vital and powerful album. Surveillance Camera Actors (track 2) has the catchy and ironic slogans “Decorate punishment! Accelerate relaxation!” while Do You Sing? asks, “Do you sing like Brittany Spears, or do you sing like there’s something wrong?” (track 3). Suran’s delivery answers this question with passionate lament. Let’s Just Go Eat Cake! (track 6) is a late 70’s style new wave song. Barbie Shaman (track 10) is staccato bursts of near lunacy with melody and persuasive singing. This group has inherited the art punk mantle that The Slits and The Raincoats give birth to.
